Here is a list of some the most valuable websites for scholars and students who are interested in the Middle Ages. They all offer a wide variety of information, and are maintained regularly. The ORB: The Online Reference Book for Medieval Studies - offers detailed information on many different topics, including full-length textbooks and projects. Although it says the last update was in 2002, the site actually gets new additions every couple of weeks. NetSERF: The Internet Connection for Medieval Resources - the most comprehensive list of websites on the World Wide Web, it now links to nearly 2000 sites. IMB International Medieval Bibliography - Online - provides a comprehensive, current bibliography of articles in journals and miscellany volumes. The index goes back to 1967, and now has over 300 000 citations. This bibliography is not free, but many universities have access to it. Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance - another online bibliography of more than 600,000 records for articles, essays, books and reviews. The IMB offers more detailed entries, but Iter's bibliography is more extensive, with items dating back to the 19th century. This is also a subscription service. Shadowed Realm: Your Guide to the Middle Ages - includes, articles, a glossary with over 550 terms, a timeline, quotations, quizzes, user-submitted content, and a forum. Mediaevum.de - a German website with an English section, this offers a great deal of information that will be useful to those interested in medieval Germany. Internet Medieval Sourcebook - a collection of hundreds of medieval texts translated into English. English Translations of Medieval Works - offers a list of texts that have been translated into English from the 1960s to early 1990s. Does not include everything, but contains most of the translation published during that period. In Parentheses - from York University, offers texts and translations of medieval works, all in PDF format. The Online Medieval and Classical Library - offers a collection of some of the most important literary works of Classical and Medieval civilization. The Medieval Review - offers academic reviews of books dealing with medieval studies. Feminae: Medieval Women and Gender Index - an index of journal articles, book reviews, and essays in books about women, sexuality, and gender during the Middle Ages. History: the website of the Institute of Historical Research - this London-based school has a growing website with a variety of resources for the medievalist.
